K Tip vs. I Tip Extensions

Choosing the Best Extensions for Your Hair

So you’re getting hair extensions, but you’re not sure whether K-tips or I-tips will be the right fit for you. We hope that this article will be a resource and help you better understand the differences between both types of extensions to make the best decision for you and your hair.

We proudly use 100% Remy Human Hair, so your extensions will always look natural. We also only source the highest quality hair so that we can guarantee long-lasting, beautiful hair.

What are K-tip Extensions?

Keratin tip extensions, or K-tip hair extensions, are partially made from the same protein, Keratin, that is already found naturally in your hair. In addition, there is a silicone additive that adds an extra layer of protection to your natural hair, ensuring that your hair stays in optimal condition.

To safely and securely attach the extensions close to the scalp, we melt a few small strands of your natural hair near the root area. By doing this, we can ensure that your new extensions will be able to move just like your natural hair. Choosing K-tip extensions allows the stylist to have complete control over the size and length of the tips, as they can seamlessly blend the extensions into the natural flow and movement of your hair.

K-tip Extensions are great for busy women who need low-maintenance hair. Unlike other extensions, K-tips can last between 4 to 6 months when properly cared for, and they require minimal maintenance between sets.

What are I-Tip Extensions?

K-tips and I-tips are similar in that they both use a strand by strand method. But unlike K-tips that use heat to attach the extensions to the scalp, no heat is used with I-tips. Instead, we use a small copper bead to connect the natural hair and extension. A small strand of natural hair is pulled through the small bead near the root area. An I-Tip strand is then placed in the bead, and the bead is closed by using a special pair of pliers. Once the I-tip is in place, it will move seamlessly with your natural hair.

One of the main perks of choosing to get I-Tip extensions over choosing K-Tip extensions is that they are reusable. As we source only the highest quality of hair, you will be able to reuse your I-Tip extensions for up to a year, as long as they are given proper care. And because they are reusable, it is much easier to remove your extensions and allow for more flexibility in how you want your hair to look.
